Rafa Garcia
Story
Hey everyone,
My name is Rafa Garcia, cofounder of 1in25.co Our journey started back in December 2020, when my daughter Sofi had her first seizure, which lasted over an hour. After multiple seizures, she was diagnosed with epilepsy (Dravet Syndrome) in May 2021.
Since her diagnosis, we have advocated for raising funds and awareness about epilepsy. In 2021, I ran 31 half marathons in 31 days. In 2022, I completed 29 sprint triathlons in 30 days, and on the last day, I finished a 70.3 Ironman. In 2023, I ran for 25 hours straight and also We created a brand called 1IN25, representing the estimated 1 in 25 people who will develop epilepsy in their lifetime.
At 1IN25, we facilitate the building and strengthening of communities. We create #teesforepilepsy to show advocacy and understanding.
This year will be special because my wife Mel and I will run from the Gold Coast to the start line of the Bridge to Brisbane, where we will participate in the 10km event. We are super excited to complete this challenge and continue creating better futures for people and families living with epilepsy.
All the money raised is going directly to Epilepsy Queensland, your support will provide vital resources for individuals and families affected by epilepsy, including welcome packs, educational workshops, and personalised management plans.
Join us, make a difference, and help us create an epilepsy-friendly world. By sharing and following (@1in25.co and @rafagarcia_n )Let’s make every step count.
Thank you for your support,
Rafa
